Le malathion est un insecticide à large spectre. Il est utilisé pour contrôler une grande variété d'insectes suceurs ou mâcheurs, notamment dans des cultures de fruits, de légumes ou de plantes ornementales. Il peut aussi être utilisé notamment contre des insectes domestiques, des parasites du bétail, dont des mouches, des moustiques et des poux du corps et de la tête.
