InhalationIn case of vapor inhalation, move the person to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration. Call emergency medical care. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method, use a bucal medical device.
Eye contactRinse the eyes with plenty of water for 5 minutes or until the product is removed. If irritation persists, consult a physician.
Skin contactWear appropriate gloves and remove contaminated clothes promptly. Rinse the skin with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes or until the product is removed. Consult a physician.
IngestionIn case of ingestion, rinse mouth. Give a glass of water to drink and induce vomiting if the person is conscious. Consult a physician. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person .
This product may spontaneously ignite on contact with air and is extremely flammable on contact with heat, flames or sparks. When exposed to light, it decomposes and emits carbon monoxide. Violent reaction occurs with oxidizers.
Extinguishing media and special proceduresUse carbon dioxide, foam or dry chemical. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus with a full-face mask and appropriate gloves and clothing. Water may be ineffective for extinguishing fire but water spray may be used to cool down exposed containers.
Effects of short-term exposure
Exposure into the workplace is mainly by vapors inhalation or by skin absorption on contact with the product.
Vapor inhalationHigh concentrations may cause headaches, dizziness and sometimes nausea and shortness of breath. These symptoms disappear after the end of exposure. Symptoms of shortness of breath, fever, cough and cyanosis may appear after 12 to 36 hours.
Respiratory tractAbove than or equal to 0,1 ppm (as Fe), wear a supplied-air respirator.SkinWear appropriate protective gloves.
EyesWear safety glasses if there is a risk of splash exposure.
Handle under liquid or inert atmosphere away from heat and ignition sources. Use non-sparking tools. All equipment must be grounded.
Store under inert atmosphere, away from incompatible materials. Store the containers in a cool, dark, dry and well-ventilated area away from heat and ignition sources . Containers must be grounded.
Leak or spill
Eliminate all sources of ignition. Reduce the concentration of vapors with water spray. Absorb spillage with sand, earth or any others non-combustible materials and place in a tightly sealed container. Eliminate in accordance with the municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
