Évaluation du C.I.R.C. : L'agent (le mélange) est probablement cancérogène pour l'homme (groupe 2A).
Évaluation de l'A.C.G.I.H. : Cancérogène confirmé chez l'animal; la transposition à l'humain est inconnue (groupe A3).

Évaluation de la cancérogénicité par des organismes officiels

Le CIRC (2018) considère que le N,N-diméthylformamide est  probablement cancérogène pour l'homme (groupe 2A). Même si les données sont limitées chez l'humain, une assosiation positive a été observé entre l'exposition au N,N-diméthylformamide et le cancer des testicules.

L'ACGIH (2017) considère le N,N-diméthylformamide comme cancérogène confirmé chez l'animal mais que la transposition à l'humain est inconnue (groupe A3).
