Le p-dichlorobenzène est utilisé comme :

  • insecticide et fumigant
  • répulsif pour les mites
  • désodorisant d'air (sous forme de blocs pour les toilettes et les poubelles à couches)
  • intermédiaire pour la synthèse de plusieurs produits chimiques. 

Voici quelques exemples de produits chimiques obtenus à partir du p-dichlorobenzène :

  • le 2,5 dichlorobenzène utilisé pour la fabrication de colorants
  • le 1,2,4 trichlorobenzène
  • la résine de polysulfure de phénylène.
