Documentation centre - Services offered

Consultation area

The Documentation Centre is open to the public with no appointment necessary. Several work areas have been provided and two work stations allow users to consult the Information SST catalogue on site and to access the Internet and the CD-ROM collection.

Users can also reserve a viewing room.

Research assistance

Are you looking for videos on how to operate forklifts safely? Would you like to obtain documentation on the risks associated with the use of a band saw, the prevention of infectious diseases in daycare centres or the applicable standards in the forestry sector?

Our librarians can assist you in your research, refer you to the appropriate information sources, assist you when you consult the Information SST catalogue or compile for you a selection of publications on a given subject, all free of charge. Consult our librarians on site or contact them by telephone or e-mail.

Loans

Workers, employers and the general public may borrow, free of charge, the publications that we have on hand at our Documentation Centre.

  • Length of the loan:
    Books and audiovisual documents : 1 month, renewable
    Standards : 15 days
  • Number of loans : unlimited
  • Reservation service : offered to everyone

The borrowed publications are sent to the borrower by courier at the CSST’s expense. They must, however, be returned by courier or priority mail at the borrower’s expense.

We directly lend our publications to enterprises and their representatives. Students must, however, rely on the inter-library lending services of their educational institution.

To borrow documents, you must be a registered subscriber of the Documentation Centre. Registration is done on site or by e-mail by providing :

  • the borrower’s name
  • the name of his enterprise
  • the full address
  • the telephone and fax numbers (if any)
  • the e-mail address (if any)

If the publications are held by the IRSST or by a JSA that is a member of the SST Documentary Network, the publications indicated in Information SST may be borrowed by contacting the documentation centre in question. In this case, the lending rules of the documentation centre in possession of the publication apply.

Printing and photocopies

The printing and photocopy costs are payable at the reception counter or can be billed to the enterprise.

  • Printing : $0.15 per page
  • Photocopies on site : $0.15 per page
  • Photocopies upon request : $0.25 per page

Visits and tours

Our team will be pleased to present its various support services, the collection of the Documentation Centre and the operation of the Information SST catalogue to groups visiting the Centre for a guided tour or attending various events.
